Время читать Эдгара. По. "Oh Mio Padre, there's a ghost in my body" They are taking a shot at Ghostwriters in the industry. A lot of artist's today will use Ghostwriters who will produce or write music and get a massive fraction whilst the artist gets a small amount for performing it. They also use their song as a way to demonstrate this. In today's industry, you could make the most meaningful song but cover it with Electro or dance and bam... It's a worldwide hit and people miss the actual meaning. So, they did the same by making this fun, quirky pop track that you miss the actual meaning behind the song. "What's your IPI? Where's the A&R? Girl, call Universal, you're about to be a star" IPI is a digital barcode that a A&R team receive when content is made. It determines how much royalty the Producer, Writer, Artist and Label will receive. In most cases, again, the producer and label receive the most whilst the songwriter and artist receive hardly anything. They take a shot at Universal Music group as they are known to take MASSIVE chunks from artists and also not give their artist's any creative control over their music or sound. It's sarcasm. You'll become a star and be rich, but it'll come at a price, basically! You'll have no freedom to write your own songs but you'll be rich. "Zero dot zero zero three Give me two years, and your dinner will be free" Most streaming sites will pay an artist 0.003 in revenue every stream. All they could afford is cheap champagne and after two years, they'd finally make a small profit. Unless you're a massive artist pulling in millions of plays each month, you will hardly see a profit from your song and will have to wait a few years before you can just about afford a meal. It's a strong message to display just how much the industry and streaming sites do not value the work or content of hard working artists. This is why she then says "At least it pays to be funny". Comedians make more money. In the second half of the video, they dress up as men delivering the song to a board of record executives. This is because men's work is often listened to more and released whilst women's hard work goes unnoticed or unfavoured. You then see them get arrested for impersonation and taken to prison. This is because they are trying to display the message, it would be so much easier to be a man in the industry than be a woman. This song is ART. It's not even a song at this point. It deserves recognition for how amazing it is. It's such a fun, quirky song with such a deep and powerful message. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMmLeV47Au4
